Version 1.00
In this archive you will find several files, all based on the work
of the Mouse-O-Maniacs, POB 1745, New Caney, TX 77357.
I feel that the revisions are a distinct improvement over the
original, but the original certainly made the work easier. These
now feature: Dial overlays, so that queueing is possible. Chords,
so that yes/no responses and cycle/kill is possible from the
mouse. Return to DOS from shell function separate from the main
menu, only pops up when appropriate. 100 numbers in 5K, rather
than 40, and 130 in 6K, with the addition of overlayed UL & DL
popups. Capable of the full 200 number FON support, if altered, in
8K.
The files are as follows:
QMOD5KM Default 5K menu driver def file
in monochrome
QMOD5KC Same, in an example in color
QMOD6KM Enhanced 6K def file in mono,
needs MENU /6 to load
QMOD6KC Same, in color
Samples of each file compiled are the respective MNU files.
The mouse buttons are set up in the emerging Logimouse standard
(why worry about those poor 2-button rodents?):
Left button Enter
Right button Escape
Middle button Popup menus
The chords are as follows:
Left + Middle Cycle redial queue, otherwise Y
for yes
Right + Middle Kill # in redial queue, otherwise
N for no
Left + Right Shortcut to upload; L+R, then
middle will popup mouse menu
All buttons Shortcut to download; All, then
middle will popup menu
See the 6K def file for tips on expanding to 200 numbers. The
SHELL menu, EXIT label, and ESCAPE (replace with NOTHING label)
label must be disabled, as otherwise you will be over the 320
labels per file limit. The CHECKMATCH series must be enabled as
noted, and the DIALADD menu disabled. The numbers over 130 must
have the ; removed from in front of them. The final DIALADD in
the CHECKMATCH series, you note, is then simply DIAL; if something
does not match (can't see how, but...) you will return to the DIAL
popup. Disadvantages are it takes 8K, and does not have all of the
features of the 6K version. I think it might be wiser to break up
FON directories into smaller chunks ( <130, for sure) and load a
new one, but the info is here if you like!
Rename the one you like, change CLICK, and E N J O Y ! !
T I P S O N U S E
Experience is the best teacher, but here are a few things you
might like to know. First of all, DO NOT move your windows,
except for the file transfer windows, unless you know how to
modify the menus for the MATCH statements to work with the new
placement. Second, if you are running this on an AT, you may need
to change your CLICK setting to 9600 baud, as in:
Qmodem menu 9600
You might also want to change your editor or view utility, if it
has a mouse menu, to the same baud rate in CLICK. A simple BAT
file that calls up your editor and then calls up the Qmodem menu
works great, but if you do things that way, you will also need to
(on an AT) call up the mouse driver with the higher baud rate to
begin with, as in:
Mouse 9600 (or Mouse 2 9600 for COM2)
When in a session, you can bypass the menu and use the L+R and ALL
chords for up- and down- loading. Just remember, fork up and fAll
down. You can also use these functions in the scroll-back buffer,
which is initially accessed (after it is toggled on) by moving the
mouse up when you are not in a menu (either mouse or Qmodem)
To dial, choose MODEM from the main menu, then Dial. When the FON
directory appears, you will be able to choose all the functions
with the mouse. Try them out. The above PGUP and PGDN routine
also works here, for scrolling through the FON directory. Try the
Select Numbers(s) choice. You will see a pop-up overlay with the
proper numbers for the page you are on. Pressing the left button
once (actually any button, but once you are out of the pop-up, the
buttons revert to their defined values, and as the left button is
enter, it is good to get in the practice) will put the entry to be
dialed on the dialing line. If that's the only number you want
to dial, press the left button again, and you're off!
If you want to dial a queue, use the middle button, pressing it to
select, then again to popup the overlay, then move and select
again, until you have the queue you want. Then just press the
left button, and Qmodem will start dialing the queue. You can
also use this ability to clear a range, and so forth. Experiment!
You will notice a "-" precedes all selected entries. This is to
provide another feature not built into Qmodem, a default prefix.
If you have one you use all the time, like *70W or 1170W for
disable call waiting, define the prefix "-". It is ignored in all
the other functions, like Clear and the like, and if it is
undefined, it does not affect dialing at all. If I could figure
out how to use all four as selected defaults, I would, but one is
better than none.
The other mouse chords give you the ability to Cycle or Kill a
number while in the queue, or answer Y (yes) or N (no, next) where
appropriate.
You can also add Telix to CLICK.SRC with the line:
Qmodem menu ;Qmodem 3.1a
After saving that, issue the command NEWCLICK and you are all
set!!!
Any comments, etc., direct to Rob Rapp, Exec-PC, (414) 964-5160,
1200/2400 baud, 8N1. Please credit me if you adapt. No
particular reason - it's just nice.
Enjoy.
